A point of interest, or POI, is a location in the physical world that someone might find useful. A POI could be anything from a national art museum, your favorite cafe on the corner, to a company’s new warehouse and everything in between. The FOAM Map is a token curated registry of POIs. This means that cartographers use FOAM tokens to come to agree on which locations should be included in the FOAM Map without the need for a central authority.
